Abundance Thinking: A Personal Story
I've been thinking lately about the importance of abundance thinking. I had a bit of a financial setback when something quite unexpected and expensive came up.
It was large enough to take all the funds I had saved in my emergency account. I found that even with all the work I've done on myself to think abundantly and spiritually, I still allowed myself to become frustrated and negative.
I've also found that building this website has been very healing for me. Lately, when I feel I've fallen personally in any area of my site, I can put my thoughts down here and help my thinking at the same time I help yours. Frustration Blocked MeSo, I wasn't doing well with my thinking. One thing that had me a bit frustrated was that I have an investment property that is about 3-6 months away from appreciating enough to where I can pull some money out.
However, I looked at the numbers of another area of the country I had considered investing in when I bought this particular property. While my chosen area has appreciated over 12%, the other one has gone up over 25% during the same period.
I found myself falling into one of the abundance thinking traps. I began to get self-critical - "Why didn't you purchase there instead? If you had, you'd have the extra money in your hands now, instead of later. Coulda, woulda, shoulda!!"
Wow, I've done so much abundance thinking practice, spiritual meditation, etc and here I was falling into some old, familiar habits in what I allow my ego to fill my head with! My SolutionI had to step back and center myself. I quieted my mind and focused on the present moment. I realized that I was sending out negative energy. And I know that whatever energy I send out is what I can expect back.
I focused on my abundance thinking and allowed myself to be thankful for that 12% growth I've been blessed with. There will always be something better than what you've chosen in anything you do, but also something worse. You need to be thankful for what you have.
Just being thankful and focusing on now rather than what I didn't do in my past decisions filled me with a calmness and a sense of inner peace. I reminded myself that I am not my situation. It's just a situation that will soon pass. I'm the same eternal being now as the one who would have been enjoying my life if my setback hadn't occurred. You Must Do The SameI want you to learn to do the same thing. When you find yourself becoming negative or self-critical, remind yourself of the importance of abundance thinking.
You'll make mistakes. You're human. It happens.
But if you allow yourself to get all worked up over your mistakes, you won't be able to learn from them. A mistake is just one small learning experience as you travel through your over-all big picture learning experience: Learning more about yourself. Abundance thinking is so important to your happiness and inner peace. Lesson LearnedOne thing I realized during my recent setback is how fast I corrected myself. In my past, I would just dwell on my negative thoughts and let them take over my mind. I would attract more negative stuff in the process.
But, this time? This time was different. I thought the negative thoughts, was able to recognize them right away and transform them into abundance thinking. I was able to separate myself from being defined as someone who just lost a bunch of money.
My "higher self" hasn't lost anything. Instead, I've gained more spirituality, abundance and inner peace. I've learned that I've come a long way in my journey toward a life of abundance.
I've learned that abundance thinking is becoming more dominant in me with each new day as I focus on my personal growth.
I hope I've inspired you to use abundance thinking immediately the next time you encounter a frustrating situation in your life.
I hope I've inspired you to develop the ability to separate yourself from your physical condition and see yourself as the unlimited spiritual being that you are.
Change your life,
Matt DeSilva
