Core Belief - How Much Thought Has Gone Into Your Personal Core Beliefs?

Have you ever sat down and thought about your core beliefs?
I've been reading one of Carlos Castaneda's books, "The Power of Silence". I recommend you read it for a deeper look into your spirituality.

His ideas will challenge your core beliefs.

When you think about it, your belief system is largely composed of ideas and thoughts you've been taught. It's not something you yourself formed on your own; unless you've already gone through the process of questioning everything you believe.

Have you actually done this? If not, maybe it's time to do it.

Do you want to go through the rest of your life living according to a belief system that you learned from your parents, teachers, friends, or preacher?

Or, do you want to formulate in your mind a belief system that is truly and uniquely yours?

I'm still struggling through this process. Maybe I shouldn't say "struggle", since it's an enjoyable process. Challenging is probably a better word for it.

In "The Power of Silence", I'm learning that we, as humans, have a core belief that the world is exactly as we "see" it. Carlos Castaneda exposes that what we see as solid and unchangeable, is in fact quite the opposite.

If you so desire, you can tap into a spiritual world where you learn to let go of your human self reflection and achieve a core belief of silent knowledge.

This world of silent knowledge is where you actually came from. It's a body of experience and knowledge that you've forgotten. Because you've forgotten, you're now focused on indulging in the physical rather than the spiritual.

There's a point in the book where Carlos Castaneda experiences the "here and here". He's able to be in two places at the same time.

Now, that may sound entirely crazy at first since you're so used to thinking in terms of here and there. This means that you can only focus on where you are, while any other point of time or place is perceived to be "there".

According to your perception, you're "here" and I'm "there".

Let's re-visit your core beliefs. Is it possible that your belief system is shallow and invalid? Is it possible that there's much more to you than what you can see and touch?

Is it?

Carlos Castaneda's teacher, the nagual don Juan, tells him that the ability to be in two places at the same time is called the "third point of reference".

On page 224, don Juan says, "The third point of reference is freedom of perception; it is intent; it is the spirit; the somersault of thought into the miraculous; the act of reaching beyond our boundaries and touching the inconceivable."

Purposely, I've kept this article a bit cryptic. Rather than telling you all my deductions of what's spiritually possible for us, I'd rather encourage you to read "The Power of Silence" yourself.

This way, you can begin to question your core beliefs and learn about human perception, silent knowledge, and "here and here" on your own.

After all, does it really matter what my belief system is?

Only by understanding your core beliefs will you be able to create change in your spiritual self.

Change your life,

Matt
