Definition of Self Fulfillment - Is Self Fulfillment Eluding You?

Let's look at the definition of self fulfillment.

The dictionary says something to the effect of, "Fulfillment of oneself or the fulfillment of your capacities".

To be honest, it doesn't seem to me that the makers of these entries in the dictionary were thinking with all their might or tapping into what I believe you or I may be looking for on this idea.

The definition of self fulfillment could go in one of two ways: The idea of realizing all your potential and achieving a mountain of worldly success, or feeling fulfilled in a spiritual sense.

Definition of Self Fulfillment: Feeling Unfulfilled
It's quite easy for you to feel unfulfilled in the world we live in. All around you are images of "success" - rock stars, actors, happy people in TV commercials, etc. You've been shown these images since your youth and they have taken quite a hold on you.

It's time, though, to question your belief system when it comes to your idea of success and self fulfillment. Have you truly "awakened" from the indoctrination of your childhood?

You do realize that in today's modern era, their is quite a bit of "programming" occurring, right? It radiates out at you from your TV, your stereo, off the big movie screen, from your education system.

It's critical, as you stand on the edge of self fulfillment, for you to begin questioning all the thoughts and beliefs you hold as "the truth".

Are these thought truly "you", or have you been asleep all this time, mindlessly following what you've been told?

And what have you been told? Have you been told that in order to feel self fulfilled and successful, you must earn a certain yearly income, have two kids, be married, be a doctor, be a teacher, join the Army, wear glittering jewelry, keep a certain weight, or whatever?

Is all this stuff really important to you or is the endless pursuit of it all making you miserable?

Definition of Self Fulfillment: It's a Feeling
To me, self fulfillment is a feeling. You just know when you feel it. You feel satisfied inside. You feel as though you've arrived. You feel that although there is much you'd like to attain in this world, you're OK inside whether you do or not.

You feel like you fit inside your own skin, so to speak.

This comes from a completely spiritual place. It's got nothing to do with being a "consumer" and buying the next great thing the mesmorizing TV box told you is necessary.

It's time for you to face inward. Contemplate. Discover who you are.
