Elusive Enlightenment

Spiritual Enlightenment
Doesn't Need to be Elusive

Elusive enlightenment. The idea that spiritual enlightenment is difficult to attain comes from your ego.

Your ego is the part of you that sees and identifies yourself shrouded in fear. It's the part of you that sees yourself as a separate entity.

Elusive Enlightenment
Feelings of Separateness

In "Your Sacred Self", Wayne Dyer writes:

"Your ego thrives on convincing you that you are separate from God. To keep this belief strong, it promotes the illusion of your guilt and sinfulness in a cowardly attempt to avoid the face of God, which is your true self.

"The ego thrives on keeping you convinced that you are separate from God and will do anything to keep you in that mind-set. It will even take the coward's way of dealing with fear by encouraging your belief that you are a worthless sinner."

Elusive Enlightenment
Focusing on the Physical

Struggling to find spiritual enlightenment starts with your thought process that you're a body encompassing a soul. This focuses you on your physical aspects and your physical world.

Remember that your true essence is your spiritual self. Your spirituality is real truth. Your ego causes you to focus on all the trappings of your physical self, which leads only to frustration.

Become spiritually enlightened by remembering who you truly are. You're a soul with a body.

Identify Your Ego

You can begin to reverse your frustrations with spiritual enlightenment by identifying the ego "you" and recognizing when it takes over. In "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying", Sogyal Rinpoche says:

"Two people have been living in you all of your life. One is the ego, garrulous, demanding, hysterical, calculating; the other is the hidden spiritual being, whose still voice of wisdom you have only rarely heard or attended to."

Elusive Enlightenment
Discover Your Wise Guide

Rinpoche goes on to talk about your wise guide that helps you unlock the secret of your spiritual enlightenment:

"The memory of your real nature, with all its splendor and confidence, begins to return to you... You will find that you have uncovered in yourself your own wise guide. Because he or she knows you through and through, since he or she is you."

Elusive Enlightenment
Become Free

As you get better at finding the true self your ego is trying to get you to forget, you find spiritual enlightenment with new understanding.

You recognize the fear that your ego tries to manifest in you. You recognize how the ego is the part of you that focuses on consuming more and more, accumulating more and more.

As you become closer to your spiritual self and distance yourself from your ego's destructive tendencies, you become free.

Remember, ultimate freedom is spiritual freedom. Freedom from all physical and spiritual chains.

Change your life,

Matt
