Financial Prosperity Requires A Plan And A Prosperity Consciousness
Do you wish for financial prosperity?
Here's how Dictionary.com defines prosperous:
1) Having success; flourishing
2) Well-to-do; well-off
If you're trying to attain either one of these definitions, then you do, in fact, wish for financial prosperity ;-) Financial abundance is your goal.
There are many ways to go about creating prosperity. However, one thing all the different techniques have in common is that you must come to the table with a prosperity consciousness.
Let me state upfront what will not lead you to financial abundance:
- Spending more than you earn
- Charging more than you can pay off on your credit cards each month / Paying interest
- Spending frivolously on non-wealth-building items such as furniture, big screen TV's, DVD's, CD's, cars, etc. / Attaining these items through the use of high interest credit accounts
- Spending money on expensive vacations while complaining that you can't afford to invest for your future
These are just a few actions that will derail your effort at financial prosperity. I'm not trying to be the "fun police" here. I'm just pointing out reality.
When I was a financial planner, I ran into family after family that didn't operate their finances from a prosperity consciousness paradigm. Yet, they wondered why they were broke and couldn't plan for the future.
Creating prosperity requires the correct mindset. It's a mindset which says I will avoid paying interest at all costs. I will save first and buy the big screen TV second. When I do buy that big screen TV, it will be with cash I've saved so as to avoid financing it. The cash I use for my big screen TV will be in excess of my emergency fund and retirement savings.
Do you see how this financial prosperity mindset is very different than the mindset of most people you know? Do you see how different it is than the mindset they try to sell you on TV or in other various forms of advertising?
Is this harder to do than to just go crazy charging up credit cards and department store accounts like most people? Yes, it is. But, if you really desire to attain financial prosperity in order to live a life of financial abundance, it's necessary to live by this prosperity consciousness.
That being said, you may be wondering what activities you should be utilizing in order to attain true financial prosperity.
- Invest in rental real estate properties
- Invest into retirement accounts such as IRA's, Roth IRA's, 401(k)'s, Self Employed IRA's, etc.
- Invest in stocks and bonds
- Invest in option trading
- Invest in businesses
- Invest into an emergency account until you have 3 to 6 to 12 months income saved
- Start a home business (website, network marketing, etc)
I realize that not all of these activities are right for everyone.
Some of them require proper training and knowledge in order to not lose your shirt. However, if you're not willing to invest some time and energy into learning the specifics of some of these activities that end up creating prosperity for you, financial abundance will elude you.
What if you possess the prosperity consciousness I've discussed but just lack the financial resources to build that emergency fund or contribute toward that Roth IRA?
If you're really serious about financial prosperity, then I suggest that the only answer is to increase your income. You've got to fight and claw to find a way to do this. Maybe you need to take a second job to find the seed money for your home business.
You may be closer to creating prosperity than you think. One very inexpensive way to start a home business is to create a website around a passion of yours. Check out my build a website page for details on how I got started doing this. You probably have the seed money for this already as it doesn't take much to start a site like mine.
Creating financial prosperity just takes the right mindset, a prosperity consciousness, and the patience to watch your wealth slowly grow. After a number of years working your plan, financial abundance will be yours.
Change your life,
Matt
