Do you live this life? Or do you struggle? Everything seems so hard.

I've been there, my friend. Living my life in direct conflict with the law of abundance.

A few years ago, I was low and couldn't understand how it happened. Broke, up to my eyeballs in debt, out of shape and in a business I had come to despise working in. My mind was cluttered, let me tell you. Cluttered with negative attitude and the "woe is me" syndrome.

As of this writing, I'm still working on that debt, but it's going away steadily. I exercise regularly. I'm happy in my work. What changed?

It's all in how you think.

You must see the world as bountiful. Allow the "Law of Abundance" to work for you.

I'm going to use myself as an example here. I'll go through some of my limiting beliefs in my own life that led me to that time of despair. Then I'll explain how the change in my thought process regarding the law of abundance is leading me out of the abyss.

I won't go into full details as some of these topics I'll cover in greater detail elsewhere on my site. I'll point you to those areas as I add them.

"Your ego... is trying to put you into scarcity consciousness, where fear reigns... When you are on purpose, focused on expressing yourself in a loving way and unconcerned about the manner in which that expression is manifested, the universe begins to handle the details. You're guided, and abundance flows into your life."
- Wayne W. Dyer in "Your Sacred Self"

The Law of Abundance
Spiritual

To me, most religions taken at their face value don't follow the law of abundance. Many religions promote a higher spiritual being that is judgmental and harsh.

There are a set of rules you must follow. If you don't, there is pressure from the congregation of followers to "toe the line". You're meant to feel guilty if you don't follow the rules. You'll be judged. You'll spend eternity in some terrible place.

I don't think this type of setting sets the table for a life of spiritual abundance. The law of abundance is one where you must feel free to allow all things to flow naturally to you. If your guiding compass is one of fear and guilt, how can you live a bountiful and joyous life?

People will disagree with me, of course. Not everyone centers on the fear/guilt aspect of their chosen religion, instead choosing to focus on the "freeing" ideas presented.

But far too many people, in my honest opinion, haven't gotten beyond the "rules" and "looking right" parts of their religion.

There's evidence to support my ideas on this.

People who've experienced "out-of-body" or "near death" experiences report no such third party "judge" (God). They encounter greater beings, but not judgmental ones. The only judge who reviews your life is you. Fascinating stuff, I think.

I struggled with this idea of religion vs. spirituality for years. I'll expand on these ideas in my "Spirituality" section.

The Law of Abundance
Financial

I can remember being as young as 8 or 9 years old and already having developed a destructive attitude towards the idea of money. I had never heard about the law of abundance.

For some reason, I've always felt like there was never enough. I shouldn't spend because I don't know where the next dollar will come from. What if I run out of money?

I can still remember getting my allowance and wanting to buy my fun "kid" stuff - football cards, toys, candy... but always having this feeling of "lack". I wouldn't want to part with the money. What if I need it later and there's none there?

How's that for using the law of abundance to set up a rich, financial life for myself ;-)

Does this sound like you? Or maybe you're the opposite. I've known people who have no problem spending every dime that comes into their wallet. Only problem for them is they do actually run out because they never save.

Both attitudes I've described are unhealthy. There needs to be an attitude of moderation achieved in both types of individuals. Both individuals need to think seriously about the law of abundance.

In my own case, I came to the realization that my thoughts of "lack" were a self-fullfilling prophecy. How was I going to ever achieve financial abundance while all I thought about was how there was a constant lack of money?

Those thoughts went from thoughts to concrete facts. I firmly believe I put myself in situations that caused this problem in my life. I didn't put myself in situations or make decisions conducive to long-term wealth building.

Even though I read countless books on real estate, investing and the like, I didn't realize any of the benefits for myself. As I began to change my thinking about money and utilized the law of abundance, I began to realize real world financial benefits.

My wife and I finally bought real estate investment property. The gains realized there are helping us get rid of that debt I mentioned earlier.

I've opened myself up to other areas of investing, such as options trading, which is helping me build wealth to go with the real estate. I've built two other websites with my friend, Dave, which provide another way to build our financial future. I've put together a band to further my guitar playing and add another source of income.

As I started to understand the law of abundance in this area of my life, my thoughts now focus on the endless stream of money available to us all. There are opportunities all around you. Change your thinking and take advantage of your talents.

The time of my life where my wife and I were on the edge (selling stuff off to make the rent) was actually good for me. I learned that no matter what, even on the brink of financial disaster, I would find a way.

I lost my fear of, "What if I run out of money?" because I had run out. I found a way out of the situation and I'm still alive and kicking!

I'm stronger today because I looked my greatest fear regarding money in the face and beat it.

I don't recommend getting yourself to that point, though. Learn from my mistakes and change now if you need to. Here's a great quote my sister-in-law, Michele turned me on to:

"By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection,
which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest;
and third by experience, which is the bitterest."

- Confucius (551-479 B.C.)

I've learned to be thrifty without being stingy. I've learned it's OK to spend on fun stuff once in awhile.

If you're the opposite of my old self and spend unwisely, you need to learn to have fun but also keep an eye on your future needs. Moderation. Achieve inner peace within yourself regarding your finances and the wealth will follow.

Whether you're the "hoarder" or the "spender" now, if you ignore the law of abundance in this area, I pray for your future. It's important to get a handle on this now as the world's financial landscape is changing. (I'll touch on that comment more in my "Finances" section)

One "law of abundance" recommendation I have for you is to read "The Millionaire Next Door", by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko. It'll help your money thinking. You may be surprised at how thrify many of America's millionaires are. Don't worry, they have fun with their money, too :)

The best part of all this? As you change your thinking here, you rid yourself of the worrying thoughts about your finances.

As I've mentioned in other areas of my site, it's the feeling of inner peace that is most gratifying and satisfying, not the material stuff your money can get you. It's so freeing not walking around all day thinking about those unhealthy "lack of money" feelings anymore.

"When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you."

- Lao Tzu

The Law of Abundance
Health

Here's an area I've had to apply the law of abundance to.

In my early to mid-twenties, I took this part of my life seriously. I ate well, jogged and weight-lifted. Remember that business I mentioned? It took up 10-12 hours of my day (sometimes more!) and I began eating fast food and stopped exercising.

Does any of this ring a bell for you? Are you hooked on unhealthy food and the remote control?

I left that dreaded business and slowed my life waaaay down. I now take the time to run and lift weights 3-4 times a week again. And it feels great. I've gotten my weight under control, I look better and I feel better.

And I don't Multi-Task! What a spirit killer that idea is. Definitely not "law-of-abundance-type-thinking". But I digress.

Once again, the secret here is to change your thinking on your health. You can be abundant in this area. No one can help but you. You must decide that the junk food and lack of exercise isn't worth a future of disease and pain.

Exercising also helps your mind. Some of my best ideas come when I get out and run. No cel phone, no TV. Just me, nature and my thoughts. I love it.

It's another way for you to find inner peace. You don't have to run. Go for a walk. Go hiking. Get away from everything and be by yourself. As you help your body, you help your mind.

What is the Law of Abundance? It's a law of your mind. Change your thinking to one of abundance and plentifulness.

Change your life,

Matt Zavadil
