Motivation

I hear many people say, "I just can't seem to get myself going." They have things they want to get accomplished, but find it hard to get the ball rolling.

If you find that your "get-up-and-go" is lacking, I'd like to tackle a few motivational self tips that may be of help to you. Part of achieving life abundance is to be consistently moving toward your goals.

At dictionary.com, the word motivate is defined as "To provide with an incentive; move to action; impel". A psychology textbook may give you a definition of "an internal state or condition that gives direction to behavior".

I agree with this inspirational quote whole-heartily. Only thinking about getting things done and achieving abundance won't get you very far.

However, I want to bring up something I've learned over the years. Sometimes, when I find myself procrastinating, I begin to dig deep within and ask myself why I'm not motivated.

Here's my basic take on the power of motivation:

First of all, it must come from within you. Deep within you. If you don't have a true interest in what you can't seem to get done, then of course you lack desire in doing it!

Having a deep interest in something is what
provides the impetus to get moving
.

Also, be aware that any motivation issues you have could be caused by a deep-rooted issue that you've failed to face and fix.

Out-Source Your Un-Motivating Activities

For example, you're finding it hard to get going on cleaning your house. You keep looking at the mess, but always find something better to do. Over time the house looks worse and you feel worse about yourself.

Stop beating yourself up over it. Call a housecleaning service and have it done by someone else. You obviously have other things important to you that you have a natural desire for.

There are things we all have to get done that we really don't want to do. Sometimes you'll need to just "suck it up" and rely on self motivation exercises. But get creative and figure out ways to have most of this stuff done by others so you can focus on enjoying the activity of each day you have.

Without the internal battles and guilt.

Let Go of "Worldly" Thoughts Regarding Motivation

I've always been a self-driven person since childhood. It's just who I am. I've always strived for self development, abundance and inner peace.

However, it's been a double-edged sword. In one way, it's great because I feel excitement in starting new projects and getting them accomplished. I've always been a "finisher".

This also comes with much internal turmoil if you're not careful. I used to buy in to the world view of that non-stop "striving to achieve" mentality. You know what I mean - "If you're not walking fast, always on the move, always getting things done, always busy, then you're not a success."

I don't subscribe to this ego-driven motivation theory anymore. It doesn't lead to a feeling of abundance. It leads to a guilty feeling when you just want to take a day or two or three off and do nothing.

What's helped me develop a new idea in regards to how I view motivation and abundance? My spiritual growth journey.

When I began to realize that there's more to me than my material existence, that there's no need for this incessant striving mentality, I saw that I've already arrived. It's OK for me to accept myself as I am right at this moment.

And it's OK for you to relax and do the same. It's OK to slow down, enjoy the moment and feel inner peace and abundance rather than inner turmoil.

This "slow down" mentality is actually a great motivation tip. It allows you to develop a natural motivation to take action as you reflect on what's vitally important for you to accomplish.

Vision

You may worry that I've become a slacker now ;-)

Don't worry, that hasn't happened. In fact, the opposite has happened. I actually get more done now than when I was running around like a madman in search of my success and abundance.

In understanding my spiritually higher self, I've relaxed but also developed a vision of where I want to go. Just because I now allow myself to "stop and smell the roses" once in awhile or take a day or two off to just read, or walk, or go to the beach or take a long nap, or whatever, doesn't mean I've lost my desire for achieving a feeling of abundance in all areas of my life.

As I teach you this concept, you'll understand the importance of organizing your time and motivation goals. You'll discover a purpose and vision for your life.

A vision provides a path for you. It provides a natural motivation and enthusiasm for accomplishing those activities that will bring you closer to spiritual, physical, emotional or financial abundance. It provides you a compass to live by.

If you can develop a relaxed vision of who you are today and accept it, I promise you'll find the motivation to gradually achieve your dreams. My new habit of being relaxed hasn't hurt my motivation. I still strive for greatness in all that I do.

But now I'm happy in the moment. I'm happy in the process. I hope my words have inspired you to look at motivation differently so you can relieve your inner turmoil and find your inner peace, abundance and contentment.
