Do You Honestly Keep An Open Mind To All Ideas?
Yes, you really can achieve a life of abundance if you keep an open mind.
It's amazing to me how many people shut out new ideas before ever giving them any serious thought or consideration. Be honest, are you one of these people?
Do you allow every new idea to enter your mind and give it careful consideration before deciding on its merits? Do you keep an open mind with all possibilities or just the ones that sound familiar to you?
If not, I'd like you to let the following quote roll around in your mind for awhile:
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." - Oscar Wilde
I would like to encourage you to keep an open mind regarding life from now on. Over time, I came to realize something that was quite astounding to me.
I was going through a time where I made it a point to question everything. I mean everything. Everything I learned in school, church, stuff I learned from my parents and family, stuff I saw on TV, read in books, etc.
I started to ask if my viewpoints were really mine. Deep down, did I formulate my biases, ideas, judgments, etc or was I just repeating stuff someone else told me? Was mine an open mind or a taught mind? Maybe even a brainwashed mind?
Wow, if you take my advice and spend some time pondering these types of thoughts, it can get pretty deep. Go back and read again Oscar Wilde's quote I gave you above. Who are you? Do you mindlessly repeat the opinions of others or have you taken the time to formulate your own ideas and opinions?
Keeping an open mind in this way gets to be a lot of fun. It's like being a child again. You go around asking why, why, why.
Question everything. Question the history you were taught. Was it really that way or did someone in power slant it to read a certain way? Question any prejudices you have against any one person or group of people. Are those viewpoints valid or are you just following someone else's skewed idea of how people should be?
Keep an open mind with what you see on the news. Is it true or is the government feeding you propaganda? Question what you read. Can you find the exact opposite viewpoint in another book? If so, which one is right? Could they both be wrong?
Question your religious beliefs. Are your beliefs your own?
"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, that is the way great spiritual giants are produced." - Swami Vivekananda
Question it all.
Change your life,
Matt
