Overcoming Personal Growth and Development Barriers
Do you struggle with overcoming the various personal growth and development barriers?
You may desire self improvement, but you're finding it difficult to actually achieve it. You're feeling frustrated that the life of abundance you seek seems a far way off.
Let's discuss some of these barriers and how to overcome them.
Lack of Self Knowledge
There are many areas of personal development and you'll place varying degrees of importance on each one.
Do you wish for self improvement in your career?
Are there skills you need to acquire in order to move up?
Are you finding that the quality of your personal relationships needs vast improvement?
What about the way you handle your emotions or your personal finances?
Do you find it's difficult to hold a quality conversation when the topic is politics because you don't know much about it or just don't pay attention? What improvements are necessary when it comes to your health?
Do you see how you may find one of these topics of personal growth more important than I do and vice versa? If you just have a general feeling of a need for self improvement and change in your life, that's not enough.
You must know exactly what's causing you to feel this way.
Overcome this barrier by having a meaningful conversation with yourself. Get out a piece of paper and begin writing it all down. Plan your life of abundance by figuring out what improvements would cause it for you and no one else.
Lack of Commitment
Once you know where you need a definite personal growth revolution, you need to commit to the journey. Too many people talk all day about wanting to change, wishing for abundance in their lives.
Don't be a "wisher", be a doer. Only you can make this happen. It all starts with your thinking. Understand your personal development needs and goals and then get to work on them.

Lack of Support
If your family or friends are not of like-mind when it comes to self improvement, it can be a huge barrier. You may have some tough decisions as to who you'll hang around with when you make the choice to improve your life.
Some people have no desire whatsoever to change their destiny. If they see you changing, it makes them uncomfortable.
They'd rather watch the same old TV shows or just wish their days away and they don't want to see you making progress.
It may not be fair, but that's the way some people are.
And they may reside inside your family.
They don't wish you harm, they may just be scared for you.
But lack of support is a major barrier.
You must surround yourself with people who have the same goal in mind: long lasting personal growth.
If you can't find it in your family, sometimes forming your own Mastermind group of 2-5 other like-minded people can break through this barrier.
Listening to the Wrong Messages
This goes hand-in-hand with Personal Growth and Development Barrier #3.
Besides the negative people you may know personally, the messages you decide to listen to on TV, in the newspaper, in magazines, etc. can have a terrible impact on your personal development quest.
Be aware of how the negativity of society affects you. Decide to pay attention to only the positive out there.
Maybe it's time to turn off the 11 o'clock news and instead read a good book of positive short stories like "Chicken Soup for the Unsinkable Soul" by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Heather McNamara.
Which leads me to #5...
Lack of Resources
Surrounding yourself with quality personal growth and development resources is a must!
There are tons of books, tape sets, and email newsletters you can access to get the inspiration, knowledge and help you need in order to create lasting change and lasting abundance in your life.
Some people talk about wanting to make this positive change but simply refuse to put out the little money it takes to access the resources necessary. Or they do buy the resources or subscribe to the newsletters but just never "get around" to reading or listening to them.
Don't let the person who buys into this personal growth and development barrier be you.
Lack of Spiritual Growth
I thought about making this #1, but I wanted to leave you thinking about this one last.
Think about it, taking your spiritual growth seriously is the ultimate in gaining that all-important self knowledge. If you haven't made the decision to work on this area of your life, it's a major barrier to a life of abundance and inner peace.
