Self Motivation Exercise Ideas To Reach Life Abundance
Are you looking for a simple self motivation exercise that'll get you up off the couch and on to achieving your goal of life abundance?
I'd like to offer you a couple of ideas on what it takes to develop enough "want to" to make things happen for yourself, but first I'd like to give you a word of caution.
If you've read any of my spiritual or inner peace sections, you know I try to look at achieving life abundance from a spiritual view. However, in the past, I made myself miserable by buying into the worldly mentality of "you must be constantly achieving your goals and striving for more".
I have to admit, I've struggled with even adding a section to my site dealing with motivation. If you subscribe to the world's view of a self motivation exercise, you're subscribing to this incessant need for getting and never feeling as if you've arrived.
I'd love to see you as a very motivated individual, but I don't want you to lose sight of your higher purpose as you strive to achieve. I try to accomplish more in my financial, health and physical areas, but I've learned to keep my spiritual abundance and inner peace front and center as my life compasses.
That being said, I finally decided that it's important for me to offer you my ideas on self motivation exercises as long I'm upfront about the fact that you need to put your spiritual abundance before your worldly abundance. Especially since I myself am striving for more financially and materially. But I don't measure my self worth by these areas anymore, and neither should you.
Sorry for that long intro, but I don't want you falling into the false trap of measuring yourself against your bank account or social status anymore.
Self Motivation Exercises
OK, let's dive into self motivation exercise ideas. How can we get you moving forward to reaching your personal goals? First of all, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but there's no magic pill you can take to get yourself motivated to accomplish your goals. It must come from a deep conviction within you.
Self Motivation Exercise Filter The Fake Stuff
It's easy to get pumped up, isn't it? I could get you all fired up to take on the world very easily just by giving you a great "pumped up" speech. If I know you desire a better life full of abundance, I can hit all your "hot spots" and make you ready to do it all. I have a sales background, remember? ;-)
It is easy, actually, to get people feeling motivated. Why do you think those late night infomercials are so successful? They know people are up late worrying about their lives and they know what to say and portray to get you to take out your credit card and call their 800#.
For most people, however, after the order, they find that it actually takes work to make the idea they were sold on to work. I've fallen for it before and I'm sure you have, too.
So, the first thing you must do is filter the fake motivation stuff and focus on what is deeply important to your higher self.
Self Motivation Exercise Reward/Benefits
If you tie a reward to achievement, you'll motivate yourself to bypass that cool TV show you could watch instead of working on your goals. If you really value pleasure, this idea will work for you.
Find something that will motivate you (a concert, sporting event, etc.) and only allow yourself to experience it if you accomplish a goal or achievement you've laid out for yourself.
Self Motivation Exercise Loss
On the other hand, you may be more motivated by the fear of loss. If this is the case, attach your achievement to loss. If you don't stay motivated to get your goals accomplished, you'll have to take away something that you enjoy doing.
Self Motivation Exercise Enjoyment
Probably the best self motivation exercise is to work at achieving goals and abundance in an area that you just absolutely enjoy doing. Why do you think I love working on this website? I've picked a subject that I thoroughly enjoy - achieving abundance and all its peripheral subjects.
It's important to achieve your abundance goals. Just remember, however, this quote from Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass":
"I exist as I am, that is enough. If no other in the world be aware I sit content, And if each and all be aware I sit content.
One world is aware, and by far the largest to me, and that is myself. And whether I come to my own today or in ten thousand or ten million years, I can cheerfully take it now, or with equal cheerfulness, I can wait."
Change your life,
Matt
