Self Motivation Tips
Self Motivation Tip #1 Your Written Plan
Before you can get going, wouldn't it be important for you to know what it is you're getting after? Absolutely!
Take some time to sit down and think through what is really important to you. If find you want to focus on your spiritual abundance, for example, you'll take different steps than if you wanted to work on financial abundance.
Most likely, you'll find that you want to accomplish goals in both areas as well as many others, but you get the point. Write it all down first. Then work at.
Review your written gameplan daily. Just the action of reading it is a self motivation tactic. It helps you visualize where you're going and to keep your focus on what's important to you.
Self Motivation Tip #2 Chip Away
Develop a continuous improvement mentality. The key to achievement is to improve a little bit at a time. Trying to get it all done today is actually very un-motivating.
Focus on what you can do each day easily. Each day you accomplish something small creates a healthy habit and a healthy mindset. And when you end up with a lot accomplished after a few months of chipping away, you feel great about yourself.
Self Motivation Tip #3 Patience
Realize that achieving abundance in any area of your life takes time and persistence. Don't get frustrated or down on yourself if you don't see immediate results.
Not every endeavor you undertake will work the first time. Failure isn't a reality unless you let it become so. Failure is just a bump in the road. I recommend you read John Maxwell's book, "Failing Forward.
Develop a never give up mentality. Allow yourself to chip away long enough to realize abundance.
Self Motivation Tip #4 Accept Responsibility
I mean this in two ways. First, don't allow yourself to blame others for any challenge you face in life. Take responsibility for yourself.
In my opinion, too many people blame something "out there" for their situation. It's time to step up and admit that you're where you are because of you, not your Mom, brother or friend.
Whenever I've allowed myself to fall into the, "Woe is me" attitude, I've had to remind myself to take responsibility if I want abundance to be realized. Which, in turn, is motivating. If you're responsible for where you are, you're responsible for getting where you want to go. There's no need to rely on anyone else.
Second, accept more responsibility in your life. You'll find that if you take it on, rather than shy away from it, responsibility forces you to change, learn and adapt.
As you do this, you realize how powerful you are and how you can build abundance not only for yourself, but for others as well.
Self Motivation Tip #5 Optimism
Keep an open mind. If you're a negative person who looks at everything first with a view of pessimism, you need to change your mindset right now!
Open your mind to the possibilities. Just because you haven't achieved life abundance yet doesn't mean anything. It means something only if you let it. If I'd taken that view when I was broke and in debt up to my ears, I'd never be where I'm at now.
As I've already mentioned, failure means you're one step closer to success if you're thinking properly about it. Don't allow "Stink'n Think'n" to enter your life ;-)
Self Motivation Tip #6 Your Health
Staying motivated requires energy. Taking care of yourself physically is an important piece to these self motivation tips. If you're constantly tired and out of shape, it's hard to stay alert mentally.
Self Motivation Tip #7 The Right People
Hang with the right people. There's no greater killer of motivation for abundance and a better life than negative input from people close to you.
If you're serious about achieving life abundance and you hang around people on the opposite path, you're in trouble! Get new friends who share your enthusiasm for learning and growing. You need their support and they need yours.
Self Motivation Tip #8 Use Your Natural Talents
Dig deep and understand what you're naturally talented at or really enjoy. If I didn't have a deep desire to help others and be a source of encouragement, developing this website wouldn't make much sense, would it?
If you find yourself in a job or career you just do because it's where you ended up, you need to think about that kind of existence. What changes can you make so that you're doing what you enjoy and utilizing talents or interests that are important to you?
Self Motivation Tip #9 Books & Tapes
This is a huge self motivation tip. Invest in books, tapes and CD's that offer encouragement and tools for your personal growth. I've learned so much from doing this. Much of where I'm at today is because of this one tip.
Self Motivation Tip #10 When It Goes Well, Keep Going
As you chip away at your written plan for abundance with optimism, have patience with yourself, utilize your natural talents with the right people, and take care of your health, you'll ultimately begin to achieve abundance for yourself.
Great! Now you've developed more self confidence by focusing on your self motivation. Keep striving for greatness with this new confident feeling. Success breeds more success.
Final self motivation tip: Don't forget to stay focused on cherishing each moment as you strive for abundance in your future.
Change your life,
Matt
