Superstitious Belief - Is All Superstitious Belief Negative?

Did you know that superstitious belief is looked upon quite negatively when you go searching for a definition?

Yes, superstitious belief has a bad rap. ;-)

I agree on one hand that superstitions are usually quite silly and have no real validity on the surface.

On the other hand, though, is the idea of superstition really something that only applies to those a bit "off center"?

Can there be any validity found within the concept of believing in something "just because"?

Let's consider the possibility.

Superstitious Belief
What's Reality?

Superstition travels throughout many types of people: from athletes to different religious groups to kids playing "step on a crack, break your mother's back" games.

It's interesting to me how one religion can have all kinds of rituals and beliefs that rise out of them while simultaneously saying that another religion's rituals and beliefs don't hold any water.

How do we know which are merely "superstition" and which may have an aspect of "reality" about them?

Well, now we get into some interesting territory, at least in my mind.

What is "reality" anyway? There are some who believe that everything we "see" in our world is simply all in our minds.

A collective consciousness connecting us allows us all to see the same thing at the same time while another entirely different "reality" could be happening simultaneously in the minds of another collective consciousness.

Or, do we really "see" a physical world that simply exists regardless of what the human mind brings to the table, so to speak?

Interesting ideas, don't you think?

Superstitious Belief
What's Wrong with a Little Superstition?

Regardless of all this, I believe superstitious belief can be beneficial to you.

If you have a superstition that helps you see the power of positive thinking and causes you to act in a positive manner, what's the problem?

If an athlete needs to wear the same dirty socks in order to fill his mind with a positive energy that allows him to go out and perform at the highest level, is there any harm with going with this idea?

If you need to say your prayers at night in order to feel "in tune" spiritually or say, "I like myself" every morning in order to feel like you can take on the world, why not allow each superstition to work for you?

Superstitious Belief
Fill Your Mind with Positive Energy

I fully realize that I'm giving the term superstitious belief a lot of leeway in terms of labeling meditation, prayer, or affirmations as superstition.

However, I'm getting to my final point, so have patience with me.

I feel a superstition, if positive, has merit. I believe that you are what you allow between your ears. How you think makes all the difference in the world.

If a little ritual you do helps fill you with positiveness and belief in yourself, I say go for it. If you have negative thinking and beliefs, then of course you need to remove this from your life.

Thinking works both ways. Negative energy will attract more negativity to you. Positive energy and thinking processes will attract abundance and prosperity into your mind and life.

If you need to latch onto a superstitious belief to aid your positive energy, I don't see any harm in it, no matter what anyone else may say about it.

Go for it!

Go ahead and free your mind of pre-conceived notions and do what's right for you and you alone.

Change your life,

Matt
