When You Must Confront a Powerful Man, Picture Him Barefoot

How would he look without his expensive shoes and socks?
My father told me this when I was a young man in the corporate world.
I had a colleague who was ruthless and ambitious, and I knoew I had to confront him. My father, a janitor, told me the best way to deal with my fear was to picture this well-dressed executive in my mind in his expensive suit and tie, but without his fancy shoes and socks on.
"A janitor is the equal of an executive when they are both barefoot" he said, with a wink.
I did it and it worked!
